orange grove 01One of the most highly recommended routes for hikers is the natural heritage Sierra de Bernia which is one of the most important geographic areas in the province of Alicante.

With a pronounced cropped silhouette the Bernia forms one of the most beautiful landscapes, acting as a natural barrier between the regions of La Marina Alta and La Marina Baixa, both physically and climatically.

The route is a circular path and crosses the "Forat" (a natural cavity in the rock) which is a small tunnel that connects the two sides of the mountain. In addition you can see the ruins of the Fort de Bernia, built during the reign of Philip II, to control the riots of the Moorish population.
